There are many kinds of upholstery fabric, with different weights and finishes, and certainly design and color combinations. What is important to ascertain is the durability of the material and the consistent usage of the intended furniture piece, such as: living room chairs, couches, dining room chairs, triple seater sofas, single sofas, or double seater sofas. These items and pieces may experience significantly greater use and should therefore utilize a more durable material than curtains and drapes, as an example.

While stain resistant solutions can be applied to upholstery fabric to provide greater protection against spills and soil, a stain resistant fabric is highly recommended. Our 100% cotton fabric is always a consistent suggestion – and final choice – as it is long lasting, easy to clean and maintain and quite comfortable.

Marine Upholstery Fabric
Marine upholstery fabric refers to a vast array of fabric materials used for fabricating and producing items that reside outdoors. These include such products as covers, sails, tarps, tents and tipis, yurts, awnings, bimini tops, dodgers, sunshades, banners, signs, and material for use in boating, trucking, tenting, and even medical. Most marine upholstery fabric offers UV and UVB resistance, and most likely, water resistance/ waterproof attributes. Our Sunforger canvas is a very breathable, pre-shrunk and mildew-resistant material perfectly crafted for outdoor and marine environments!
As a side note, if you are planning an outdoor project with marine upholstery fabric, consider the thread used to stitch marine type material. Polyester thread with sizes ranging from #69, #92, #138 offers protection from the effects of UV, acids and many chemicals. and should replace Nylon as this does not stand up to harsh and direct sunlight for longer than 6 months.
